Why Pokemon Should Promote the TCG at Colleges

Why Pokemon Should Promote the TCG at Colleges Hello Everyone,  Today I want to talk about something that I think is very important for this game. I am a college student, as said in my About me page, and I don't get many opportunities to play Pokemon. I don't have the option to travel to a lot of places, and so I came up with a marvelous idea.  What if Pokemon Promoted the TCG at Colleges?  It sounds like a brilliant idea on paper, but it might not be the best idea though. I will talk about both sides of the argument, and why it can be good or bad.  The Pros: I think that this would be a good idea because Pokemon would be able to market their products to a whole new demographic. The Masters division is already huge, and this would make it bigger, and better. On top of that, it would dramatically increase League attendance, as well as offering more tournaments such as League Challenges.  This is also huge for the Secondary Market, as they can sell more c

Cool Set Ideas

Cool Set Ideas Hello everyone,  Today I wanted to talk about some ideas for the future sets of the Pokemon Trading Card Game. If Pokemon sees this article, I would be totally for letting them use the ideas here.  I will talk about sets, and mechanics that could be used for future sets. So, here we go.  First Idea:  Breath of the Dragon TCG Set:  This has inspiration from the newest Zelda title, with the support needed to make Dragons good in the TCG. They don't do much anymore, especially when Fairy Type is so huge. What I would do in this set is give a basic Dragon energy (which should of happened from the start). I would also give a Double Dragon Energy reprint to give them consistency.  This basic energy would be like the others in the fact that it would never rotate out. The Double Dragon Energy would though.  Second Idea:  Fury of the Champion:  This set could give Fighting Types a huge consistency boost. Kind of like Carbink Break, where some

The Problem with Expanded

The Problem with Expanded Hello Everyone,  Today I am going to talk about problems with the Expanded Format. This has NOTHING to do with the format or Meta, only with the Business side of things, which is huge. I am going to talk about costs, older sets relating to costs, Tournament Structures, and counterarguments. I will also not talk about things like Sleeves, or items that do not impact the format, such as plushes.  So here we go:  Costs of Expanded:  Most people have to know which sets have good cards, and what certain cards are worth. For Example: Tapu Lele-GX costs $30 -$40 depending on the conditions and where it is bought. That in itself is a big pain, especially when other good cards are accounted for. Even a small GX such as Vikavolt GX is a few dollars, which is a lot when added up. That was just for the Standard Format.  Now, take Expanded into account. There are over 20 sets in the game with Expanded. Lets start with some big name EXs and GXs. Some

Burning Shadows Prerelease

Image
Burning Shadows Prerelease Hello Everyone,  Today I went to the Burning Shadows Prerelease at Everything Games in Buffalo Grove, Il. It was a lot of fun, and I went 2-1 in the tournament. Below is a picture of the Deck Box for the prerelease.  What I pulled:  Today I pulled a Full Art Goliospod GX and a Secret Rare Multi Switch. They were both cool. Below is also a picture of the packs that I had for the tournament.  What I played:  I had played the fighting types that came with the deck, plus Mudsdale. Here is a picture of my deck.  Tournament Report:  My first round I lost barely because my opponent topped a heads on Super Scoop Up. So I lost because of it. My second round came down to a top deck and luck. I used Mudsdale to win, and used Kick away and escape rope to win. My third win came from Crabrawler and my opponent could not do anything to win. Overall:  Overall, it was a lot of fun. This set is good for pulling cards. Please follow me on this

Burning Shadows and the 2018 Format

Burning Shadows and the 2018 Format Hello Everyone,  Today I am going to talk about the new set that was leaked on  http://www.pokebeach.com/2017/07/english-burning-shadows-set-list-and-spoilers . It details every card in the set.  I am also going to talk about what cards will be good in the format, as this is the newest set going into the 2018 Season.  I will not post reprints in this article, unless it is a meme or something.  First the Good Synergy Cards:  Goliospod GX:  I think this card is good because, like Caleb Gedemer on Pokebeach mentioned, it is good with certain cards like Zoroark. I like this combo with Zoroark because it is very good at dealing damage, fast. It can be partnered with Float Stone (In Breakthrough) and with Max Potion (Guardians Rising) to maximize potential.  It only needs one energy to do its best attack. Many people are using it with Guzma (Burning Shadows, It's ya boy too). Or even with Olympia (Generations, Also not your

Internationals 2017 Experience

Image
Internationals 2017 Experience Hello everyone,  Today I am going to be talking about how the Internationals at Indianapolis went for me. It was good, but there were some parts that could have been changed. So, I will go into detail and talk about what was good, and what needs to change in order to make Internationals better. Be sure to follow me on this blog, at  playerpokemon.blogspot.com Tournament Itself:  I piloted Espeon Garbodor in the event, and I did well in Round 1, but lost later on. The deck didn't get me what I wanted at times, or things wouldn't work out. I went 4-5 in the end, but the article isn't much about it.  This extended to side events too. One game I went against Lycanroc Zygarde and I started with a Drampa GX tech. That didn't end well. There were also a lot of Zoroark decks.  Even though I didn't do the best, this article is about the experience in going. I have been to several Nationals before they became Internationals. I
